I just finished the ORAS arc.
A masterpiece.
Everything just comes together so well.
The game references and the comebacks were all beautifully shown.

I love that arc :praise: but (yes, there's a but XD) I wanted the battle against Deoxys to be a little longer, I think it was a little rushed :suspect:

True, and I wanted to see the first Courtney. Sad she never made an appearance.

I found out there's a chapter for when Red and Gold went training on Mt. Silver! It was short but charming :clapclap:

Reading Pokemon Special XY chapter.
I searched, and it looks like this chapter is really short compared to the other "main series" chapters.

If I remember well it's 39 chapters + 7 extra
In one of those chapters we see Eevee evolve into Sylveon

Is that normal length for a Pokemon Special Chapter? I know that the remakes and the sequels are usually short, like Yellow, Emerald and HGSS. But the main series like GS, RS, DP are usually longer, so I thought XY should be similar too

Usually no... but some arcs are really short :yeahyeah: like you said the remakes are really short but you will be surprised to know that Yellow isn't that short XD
The winner arc to have the shortest number of chapters is... HG/SS with 18 chapters (from ch. 442 to 460)!!

Here's a list (of the Viz edition):
  • Red & Blue (3 volumes - vol 1-3 | ch. 1-40 - 40 chapters)
  • Yellow (4 volumes - vol. 4-7 | ch. 41-90 - 49 chapters)
  • Gold, Silver & Crystal (7 volumes - vol. 8-14 | ch. 91-179 - 88 chapters)
  • Ruby & Sapphire (8 volumes - vol. 15-22 | ch. 180-269 - 89 chapters)
  • FireRed / LeafGreen (3 volumes - vol. 2325 | ch. 270-298 - 28 chapters)
  • Emerald (4 volumes - vol. 26-29 | ch. 299-337 - 38 chapters)
  • Diamond/Pearl/Platinum (11 volumes (in the Viz version) - vol. 30-40 | ch. 338-441 - 103 chapters)
  • Heart Gold & Soul Silver (2 volumes - vol. 41-42 | ch. 442-456 - 14 chapters) -> remember, it's the Viz edition so I don't know how they made the count...)
  • Black & White (9 volumes - vol. 43-51 | ch. 457-524 - 67 chapters)
  • Black 2 & White 2 (2 volumes - vol. 52-53 | ch. 525-540 - 15 chapters) Still publishing (we are at ch. 17 in Japan)
  • XY (12 volumes | ch. 1-39 - 39 chapters) -> in Japan they started publishing XY with a new numeration (there's 7 extra chapters published in the magazines that weren't collected in the volumes)
  • Omega Ruby & Alpha sapphire (6 volumes | ch. 1-21 + episode 0 - 22 chapters) -> in the Japanese version there's only 3 volumes
  • Sun & Moon (1 volume | ch. 1-7 - 7 chapters) -> Still publishing (we are at ch. 11 in Japan but for now they haven't announced the 2nd volume)
EDIT: since we are talking about the manga, I moved some posts to the "What Pokémon manga are you reading" thread :hero:

Oh I see. Wow the DPP arc is really long! But I think that was supposed to be divided into DP and Pt.

Reading Pokemon Special XY arc.
I just can't get over the fact that there are missing chapters all over the place.
Is there anywhere I can read them?

Just finished the XY arc.
I really have to look into finding those lost chapters:argh2:

The other day I finished Dengeki! Pikachu: I think I have read some chapters years ago but I found the uncensored version with all the chapters (Vis published 15 chapters) and the manga adaptation of the movie with Jirachi.
One of those days I'll read the manga adaptation of the movie with Victini and Volcanion :yesyes2: :sisi2:

I just finished reading the BW arc again.
And I am reading vol 53 online at the moment.
But, when I'm done, I'm gonna re-read all the manga books again! :happydance:

Pokemon ReBurst, interesting, shows what it could be like to be a human and a pokemon at the same time, but it focuses too much on one guy and his one transformation there should be variety, not to reference another manga but, it would be like if luffy just used the same attack sure he could go gear 2nd and 3rd but if he continually just used the same attack (a single solid punch) it would get repetitive and lose its luster, so back to the topic at hand the manga does go into variety territory but it doesn’t allow for the main character to develop certain skills with his bursts(ability to change into pokemon), I mean he develops his main burst(zekrom) but in reality if you had access to numerous amounts of these bursts would you continually use the same one, I mean variety is the spice of life and the constant repetitive use or doing of something will eventually lead to a boring lacklustre experience.
(Sorry for the essay, btw I am only like halfway through.)
