As you guys already know, we open once a week (or that is what we try to do XD) a new thread to talk about a Pokémon. We can talk about the competitive, of what we like about that Pokémon (or not), if we ever used it in the games (so we can share our experiences with that particular Pokémon: if it helped in some way during your battling or not) or to simply share knowledge about that particular Pokémon.

This week's Pokémon is Whimsicott!

Type: Grass/Fairy
Base stats: 60 HP | 67 Atk | 85 Def | 77 Sp. Atk | 75 Sp. Def | 116 Spe
Ability: Prankster or Infiltrator | Chlorophyll (HA)

EVOLUTION:

It evolves from Cottonee when it is exposed to a Sun Stone.​

And this time we have one of the Pokémon that won the 2017 Pokémon World Championship (Master Division)!
Maybe you don't see this Pokémon that much but it's still fearsome to have it as an opponent.

Moves:
- Moonblast
- Tailwind
- Encore
- Taunt
Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP/ 4 Def / 252 Spe
Usually you choose to have a Support Pokémon like Whimsicott since with its good defence and can take some attacks and survive. Focus Sash is another good item that can let survive Whimsicott and set a Tailwind, one of the most important moves that Whimsicott can learn because double the Speed ot its teammates.
With its ability, Prankster, all status moves will have an increased priority (+1) so it can set use Encore and lock a foe to use the same move for 3 turns (or force the opponent to switch out) or Taunt.
Taunt prevent the foe from using status moves.
Finally, we have an offensive move, Moonblast, that can 2HKO many Dragon, Dark and Fighting-type Pokémon.

2017 World Championship
Whimsicott can work really good with various terrains. The 2017 World Champion, Ryota Otsubo (Japan), brought two different Tapu that enabled his Whimsicott to use two different Z-Moves through Z-Nature Power.
Moves:
- Nature Power
- Tailwind
- Charm
- Protect
Item: Normalium Z
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Modest
This moveset, like before, is to Support its allies. Whimsicott set a Tailwind to double the Speed ot its teammates. Encore is used to lock a foe to use the same move for 3 turns (or force the opponent to switch out) and Taunt is used prevent the foe from using status moves like Trick Room, Sword Dance, Leach Seed and so on.
Charm will lower the Attack stat of the target by two stages.
Finally, Nature Power replace Moonblast but with the help of 2 different terrains created by Tapu Fini and Tapu Koko it's like having 2 more moves: Moonbalst and Thunderbolt.
- Moonblast if there's a Misty Terrain (Tapu Fini)
- Thunderbolt if there's an Electric Terrain (Tapu Koko)
The item, Normalium Z is used on Nature Power to gain priority from Prankster. The selected move will become its corresponding Z-Move.
But remember to don't use this move on Dark-type Pokémon since in Generation VII they are immune to opposing Pokémon's moves that gain priority due to Prankster!!
