As you guys already know, we open once a week (or that is what we try to do XD) a new thread to talk about a Pokémon. We can talk about the competitive, of what we like about that Pokémon (or not), if we ever used it in the games (so we can share our experiences with that particular Pokémon (if it helped in some way during your battling or not) or to simply share knowledge about that particular Pokémon.

This week's Pokémon is Cloyster!

Type:
Water/Ice
Base stats: 50 HP | 95 Atk | 180 Def | 85 Sp. Atk | 45 Sp. Def | 70 Spe
Ability: Shell Armor/Skill Link | Overcoat (HA)

EVOLUTION:

It evolves into Cloyster when exposed to a Water Stone.

Cloyster is one of those Pokémon that you think you will never see used but instead he is really a good Pokémon (and his face show no mercy XD)

Moves:
- Spikes / Toxic Spikes
- Shell Smash
- Icicle Spear
- Rapid Spin
Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Def / 252 Spe
Toxic Spikes or Spikes can be used as a first move to provide support for its temmates or you can go with Shel Smash that increase Cloyster's Attack, Special Attack and Speed by two stages each and lowers its Defense and Special Defense by one stage each. After Cloyster powered up you can start attack with Icicle Spear that will hit 5 times since Cloyster have the ability Skill Link (Multi-hit moves will always hit the maximum number of times).
Finally, Rapid Spin is used to prevent opponent Pokémon to set up their entry hazards.

Did you know that Cloyster is is tied with Mega Slowbro for the highest base Defense stat of all Water-type Pokémon?

I never used Cloyster in my story or in competitive but all the times I face someone that has Cloyster, I know that the battle will be difficult (and I always lose against him XDD )

And now, let's share our experiences with that particular Pokémon in our games, cool fan artworks (with the source) or anything else!

I used to like this Pokémon a lot when I was younger, nowadays it's like "meh", not bad, but not a favourite anymore.

I can't remember if it was good or bad at battling, I've only used it on Fire Red, many years ago...
