I'm not a forum admin, but I'am starting this thread anyway. :p

So, I think here we can take general talks about the upcoming Pokémon Go (as I think it is weird to start a new thread for each new small news about this game).

I just read on two mexican technology websites ("El Univeral" and "Informador") the firsts "system requirements" for Pokémon Go:
  • On Android, you'll need a device which runs the Android 4.3 or later.
  • If you are an Apple user, you should use an iPhone 5, or later.

Well, not really... I was talking about I came here and say "Now, when you want to talk about Pokémon Go, post it here! Understood?!? ", when I'm like... nobody. In this forums.

I'm waiting to know more about the game requirement and hope that my new phone be able to run the game (argh, why the brazilian post mail is so slow? I want my new cell phone right now! :D). Well, at least, its Android version is 5.1, which is good.

Hello trainers, good news!

Today the Niantic CEO, John Hanke, held a panel at SXSW 2016 were he talked a bit about the upcoming Pokémon Go and surprisingly, shared a video showing the gameplay of the game.

Many people said that the video is fake, but a similar one was also published on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TomWoodhead/status/711307513145102336

Pokémon Go field tests begun in Japan and there's a lot of images!

For now seems that there's a 500 item limit, 20 starting Poké Ball and only the first generation (NOTE: this isn't confirmed)

New info:
  • (NEW) Once you've encountered a Pokémon, take aim on your smartphone's touch screen and throw a Poké Ball to catch it. Be careful when you try to catch it, or it might run away!

  • (NEW) Also look for PokéStops located at interesting places, such as public art installations, historical markers, and monuments, where you can collect more Poké Balls and other items.

  • (NEW) In Pokémon GO, you will gain levels as a Trainer, and at higher levels you will be able to catch more powerful Pokémon to complete your Pokédex. You'll also have access to more powerful items, such as Great Balls, to give you a better shot at catching Pokémon.

  • (NEW) If you catch the same species of Pokémon enough times, you'll get the opportunity to evolve one of them.

  • (NEW) And as you explore, you may find Pokémon Eggs at PokéStops, which will hatch after you've walked a certain distance.

  • (NEW) At a certain point in the game, you'll be asked to join one of three teams. Once you join a team, you'll gain the ability to assign Pokémon you've caught to empty Gym locations or to a location where a team member has placed one of his or her Pokémon. Like PokéStops, Gyms can be found at real locations in the world. Each player can place only one Pokémon at a particular Gym, so you're encouraged to work with others on the team to build up a strong defense. If a Gym is already claimed by another team, you can challenge that Gym using your own Pokémon. Using the Pokémon you've caught, engage in battle with the defending Pokémon at the Gym to claim control.

  • (NEW) A wide variety of challenges are available that highlight many different categories, such as catching Pokémon and exploration. By completing these challenges, you'll unlock achievement medals that will appear in your player profile.

[Editor's Note] I'm putting the older info from the same site up here so it's better organized in this thread since it's all from the same source just divided by different times of being updated.
Older Info:

  • Pokémon GO will use real location information to encourage players to search far and wide in the real world to discover Pokémon.
  • Pokémon GO’s gameplay experience goes beyond what appears on screen, as players explore their neighborhoods, communities, and the world they live in to discover Pokémon alongside friends and other players.
  • A small device called a Pokémon GO Plus will enable Pokémon GO players to enjoy the game even when they’re not looking at their smartphone. The device connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth and notifies the player about events in the game—such as the appearance of a Pokémon nearby—using an LED and vibration. In addition, players can catch Pokémon or perform other simple actions by pressing the button on the device.
  • Furthermore, Junichi Masuda of Game Freak Inc., the game director of the Pokémon video game series, is also contributing to the project. He is hard at work ensuring that the fun of Pokémon makes its way into this new project, and is also looking to come up with new kinds of gameplay while thinking of ways to connect this project with the main series of Pokémon video games.
  • Pokémon GO will be available for download at no charge on the App Store and Google Play. In-app purchases will be available.

    Source: reddit

More info:
  • You can customize your trainer
  • You don’t receive a starter Pokémon
  • Only Generation 1 Pokémon are found in the beta.
  • The stats in the game are the following: Attack, Defense, Individual Defense and Pokémon Defense.
  • 232 moves are program in the game. (Meaning the game will support Pokémon Battles)
  • You can join Team Red, Team Blue or Team Green.
  • A new move called “Starburst” was found in the data. (Still unknown if the move is exclusive to Pokémon GO or introduce in Sun and Moon)
  • You don’t battle wild Pokémon. You can directly caught them using a Pokeball, Great ball, Ultraball or Masterball.
  • The game has reference to Google Cardboard.
  • The game size is 47.97 MB on Android.

I'm really excited about this game... I can't wait to play it!
Only generation one? If it be true, it will be a bit disappointing but understandable, 'cause the game will be really complex to be maintained by the Niantic Games, so the limitation of stored items and gen one Pokémon is understandable in my opinion.

Seems that the Gen 1 limit is only for the beta :yesyes: (but it's still not confirmed)

Some data mine:
Moves: -232 Moves confirmed. Moves include Psychic, Icy Wind, Absorb, Solarbeam, etc. -Each Pokemon is assigned two moves. So, most likely in 'Gyms' they will be switching back and forth between the set moves. -No traditional fighting and not real time. Refer to assigning moves above.

Pokemon available in beta: -Only the original 151, ala Gen 1.

In app purchases. -6 Tiers (Tier Free to Tier 5.) -No idea why they are tiered this way, could be based on price, could be based on item.

Items -Pokeball, Great Ball, Ultra Ball, Master Ball -Potion, Super Potion, Hyper Potion, Max Potion -Max Revive -X Attack, X Defense, X Miracle -Berries -Special Camera (unsure what that is at the current time)

Teams -Red -Blue -Yellow

Types -Normal, Steel, Fighting, Fire, Flying, Water, Poison, Grass, Ground, Electric, Rock, Psychic, Bug, Ice, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Fairy

Classes of Pokemon -Normal, Legendary, Mythic

Pokemon Natures -Stoic -Assassin -Guardian -Raider -Protector -Sentry -Champion

Item Category -Pokeball -Food -Medicine -Boost -Utility -Camera

Holo Activity Type -Catch -Flee -Defeat Fort -Evolve -Hatch -Pokedex -Throw (Nice, Great, Excellent, Curve) -First Catch -Milestone -Walking **It was noted that there is NO BATTLING

Badges are achievements and milestones

Camera movements are very simple

Trade - possibly but unsure if its tied to local or internet at this current time

Starter Pokemon options were inside but were not able to be elaborated on.

Day/Night Cycle and Pokemon appearance increases.

Evolution Animation

Different Menu screens, such as Items, attack, Pokedex, etc

and Trainer customization.

As I don't know if the source of this information is trustworthy, I'm posting it here in this thread.

A Youtube user, pokemonblack1000, has published five videos teasing what he claims to be songs from Pokémon Go.

Pokémon GO field testing will begin in Australia and New Zealand later this month.
The Pokémon Company and Niantic invite users to field test Pokémon GO in Australia and New Zealand. Users can visit http://pokemongo.nianticlabs.com to sign up. Please note that sign up doesn’t guarantee access to the field test. The Pokémon GO field test will give users the opportunity to share early feedback and help improve the Pokémon GO experience.

Thank you for your interest in Pokémon GO.

Pokémon GO: New details

Pokémon GO field testers aren't allowed to give away details about the upcoming game, having signed a non-disclosure act, but that hasn't stopped them. And one particular Reddit thread has caught the attention of those looking for new information on Pokémon GO. Here are some details we've learned:

• The current build of the game has only the original 150 Pokémon

• Pokémon that come from eggs are stronger than most wild Pokémon in the Pokémon Go

• Around 30- to 50 percent of Ingress portals have been turned into Pokestops, which act as item portals and are especially important in rural areas

• Pokeballs can be thrown in several ways, including straight balls, curve balls and flick balls, but wild Pokémon can deflect them

• Eevee, Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are apparently difficult to find and catch

• There is some sort of speed mechanic within the game that notices when you're going too fast and won't count your movement as progress toward an egg

• Two Pokémon of the same breed can have different moves

• The time of day does not currently seem to affect the availability of Pokémon

• It's currently not possible to alter the avatar you design when first launching the game

We'll have real time battles in Pokémon Go:

With many players trying out the "Pokémon Go" mobile game during its field test, outsiders have gotten a more in-depth look at the forthcoming title. The most recent updates are in regards to the combat system and come from Reddit user Dronpes.

The key points taken from this new information has been put together by Nintendo Life. Check out the new information regarding combat in "Pokémon Go" below:

  • To attack players need to tap or hold down their finger on the screen. A tap will do a quick attack, while holding down your finger does a charge attack.
  • A stamina bar will be displayed underneath your Pokémon's health bar. According to the site, the bar appears to be broken into two halves. It will refill about 20 percent per second, and will be boosted when you take damage. A long press charge move will consume more of your stamina, around 50 percent.
  • Incoming attacks are through a red crosshair that closes in on your Pokémon. It gives users a chance to dodge the attack and you can do so by swiping left or right on the screen. A skillful dodge can actually avoid the attack and put you behind the opposing Pokémon. However, area of effect attacks seem to be unavoidable.
  • Similar to other Pokémon games, different Pokémon types have an impact on damage.
  • Damage taken after a battle will remain so you need to heal up your Pokémon after each fight.
Meanwhile, another field tester has revealed that the look of "Pokémon Go" exceeds expectations. Many fans were worried that Niantic would make the game look similar to its other title "Ingress" but that doesn't seem to be the case. The field tester said:

"I'll just say this, though: it looks freaking fun. Nothing like Ingress. Much more like the 'encounter' screen but with the camera higher set and behind a Pokemon. You see each Pokemon's HP in a bar. There is a second bar, divided into two on the 'computer player pokemon' when training. We're still working out what's happening with that. But the attacks fly like hail. We're seeing both the 'quick' and the charge move. The animations are cool. The pokemon can jump/dodge and it appears to avoid some of the damage from the attack. It's crazy. And colorful. And gloriously not like Ingress."

Niantic recently revealed that the field test is coming to Australia and New Zealand. We are still waiting for it to arrive in the U.S., but we do know the title will hit Japan, Europe and North America when it launches this year.
