If the NX is a console and handheld hybrid, it might replace the 3DS and WiiU altogether. If this happens, we will get to see main series Pokemon games in the NX too
I.... I don't think that for now they will replace the 3DS... I don't know why but I have this feeling that the 3DS will survive and maybe be used with the NX :yeahyeah:

Yes I think that will happen too. I don't want the 3DS to die off, and Nintendo said that the NX is a completely different concept from the 3DS anyway so it can't be a replacement

Lets say that the NX and 3DS will coexist in the future. If this is the case, most main series Pokemon games will probably just stay on the 3DS, but if the NX wants to survive the market, it needs a good Pokemon game.

What kind of spin-off game should the NX get? A mystery dungeon game? A fighter game like Pokken? A Pokemon Ranger reboot? Or an entirely new Pokemon game with a new concept?

Or, do you think it will be possible to make a main series game work both for the 3DS and NX, like Super Smash Bros did with the 3DS and WiiU?

I don't think we will see a Pokémon game that work for both 3DS and NX, that's because I think the NX engine will be much different :yesyes: so I hope to see a new spin-off :yesyes2: :sisi2:
As for the games... we already know that there will be a Sonic :yeahyeah: and... Atlus is working for a game too :praise:

I may be wrong - as I'm almost every second - but I guess that sadly (or happily), the NX can, in fact, be a substitute for both, Wii U and 3DS.

I mean, it will be like a PS4 to the PS3, or a Xbox One to the Xbox 360. Nintendo won't abandon Wii U or 3DS, they will continue receiving new games (at least for a while), but I think that after the NX, we won't see a "Wii V" or a "4DS".

Said that, I think that is pretty fair for us to think that the eight generation of the main Pokémon series could be released for the NX (and also the remakes of Diamond and Pearl).

Talking about the games we're going to see on the NX, as May told, the new Sonic is one of titles that I'm looking forward to buy with the console (once I have enough money - and will - to buy the NX). But, the thing I'm really begging Nintendo to do, make a console interesting for the third parties and bring back great "real car" racing games, something that I miss since World Driver Championship (aka "The Gran Turismo for Nintendo 64).

Only a little while.... but they will move to the NX for sure

Well, but it will be released even for Pc, Nx, PS, Xbox... so we can buy it everywhere (and it won't be a game to make the Nx sell XD)

Yeah, but, you see, I haven't a PS4/XOne/PC*, so it is a good point that NX will receive the new Sonic. Consoles are expensive over here, so I don't want to have to buy two of them (that's why I ignored Wii and Wii U, they in fact had some games I'd like to play, but in a small number that the PS3 has). I think after years I'm going to bet all my tickets on NX, and I expect that it don't become the wrong horse.

*Okay, I have a PC, but it probably won't run the game properly.

Consoles are expensive everywhere :yesyes: the new PS4 is 400 euro :cry2:
but... can't you upgrade you PC? It's less expensive than buying a console :yesyes:

That is not how the things work over here. roftl

That is - one of - the reason(s) that I prefer a console, because for less than the price that you would buy a PC for the next three years of "AAA" games, you buy a console which allows you to play the next six years of "AAA" games (I don't care about better graphics, 60FPS, 4k, anti-aliasing and blur...).

Or, well, it used to work this way. Now with the PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio, I don't know what is going to happen with the consoles market.

EDIT: The text above is my opinion of how I see the consoles x PCs war, here in Brazil. It doesn't really apply to myself, as I never had money to buy a console in the beginning of a generation (on contrary, the 2DS was the first "console of the current generation" that I've ever bought).

Well, if you don't care about those thing, a console is the best :yesyes:

They simply can't match the pc so they need to create a new console (from what I see the PS4 Neo works in 4k with better graphics but the pc already has it...)

For me, so I'm supposing, the developers don't want to work hard to get the maximum potential of the consoles anymore. I mean, if you get the hardware of a PS3 or a Xbox 360, for example, you'll get surprised of how did they "extract" all those beautiful graphics and extensive gameplays from such limited hardwares.

But now, looks like the developers act like:
- So, we should optimize this game to run properly in the consoles.
- Nah, let it in this way, if the gamers want to get a properly experience they should buy a PC instead.

I wish the upcoming Pokemon game for the NX will be something entirely new... Not something like Detective Pikachu, more like a spin-off game as significant as the Mystery dungeon series or the Ranger series.:yesyes:

Nintendo Switch announced!
In addition to providing single-player and multiplayer thrills at home, the Nintendo Switch system also enables gamers to play the same title wherever, whenever and with whomever they choose. The mobility of a handheld is now added to the power of a home gaming system to enable unprecedented new video game play styles.

At home, Nintendo Switch rests in the Nintendo Switch dock that connects the console to the TV and lets you play with family and friends in the comfort of your living room. By simply lifting the Nintendo Switch console from the dock, it will instantly transition to handheld mode, and the same great gaming experience that was being enjoyed at home now travels with you. The portability of Nintendo Switch is enhanced by its bright high-definition display. It brings the full home gaming system experience with you to the park, on a train, in a car, or to a friend’s apartment.

Gaming springs into action by removing detachable Joy-Con controllers from either side of the Nintendo Switch console. One player can use a Joy-Con controller in each hand; two players can each take one; or multiple Joy-Con controllers can be employed by numerous people for a variety of gameplay options. They can easily click back into place or be slipped into a Joy-Con grip accessory, mirroring a more traditional controller. Or, if preferred, the gamer can select an optional Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to use instead of the Joy-Con controllers. Furthermore, it is possible for numerous people to bring their Nintendo Switch consoles together to enjoy local multiplayer face-to-face competition.

I don't know what to say... the console seems interesting but for now we don't know much about it... is is strong or not? We only know that the console is powered by the performance of the custom Nvidia Tegra processor -> https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2016/10/20/nintendo-switch/
so... I want to wait and know everything but for now.... seems an evolution of the Nvidia Shield :yeahyeah: so I really want to know more

(Where's the VR??? :rage::rage:)

Please have a good racing game, please have a good racing game, please have a good racing game, please have a good racing game. I'm begging you!
For now there's a Mario Kart :yesyes2: :sisi2:

I'm glad that most of the speculation I'm reading about the new Nintendo Switch is positive.

Obvious stuff aside, I made an interesting observation that gives hope to the 3DS.
Nintendo 3DS games and especially Sun and Moon usually focus on children in their trailers.
In contrast, the Nintendo Switch trailer only shows adults. Maybe this is a sign that the Switch is intended for an older audience.

People may think that the Nintendo Switch will replace the 3DS because it's a more powerful handheld. However, I have a feeling that this kind of audience divide between the 3DS and the Switch might enable the 3DS to survive longer than we think.

Now if this turns out to be true, we can expect the main series Pokemon games to continue on the 3DS. However, now that Nintendo Switch, a more powerful and "adult version" handheld is released, what kind of Pokemon games do you think will be released on the new device?

Personally, I think Game Freak will not miss this chance to utilize the Switch for more awesome Pokemon games because it is a handheld. Pokemon's console games were a bit less successful because Pokemon is all about connecting with other people, but the Switch doesn't have that kind of previous limitations. Maybe we'll see more than a simple spin-off game for Pokemon on the Switch.

Uhm... no... even the Wii U trailer has adults that play the console

Rumours says that the 3DS will continue to live and will be supported for other 2 years :yeahyeah:

I hope to see another game like Colosseum :yesyes: or anyway, a main series on the Switch :yeahyeah:
