The official website announced a new stage for the game and some cities that will host the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competitions.
Play Pokkén Tournament Early at GameStop!
The Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competitions are free and open to the public. Space is limited, and spots in the competitions will be first-come, first-served. Players will be split into two age divisions. The winner from each city in each age division, plus one guest, will be flown to the Nintendo NY store in New York City on March 17 for the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competition finals! The winner of the finals will receive a Wii U, the Pokkén Tournament game, and a travel award to Columbus, Ohio, to battle in the 2016 Pokémon US National Championships!

The following cities will host Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competitions:

  • Atlanta
  • Chicago
  • Dallas
  • Los Angeles
  • New York
  • Orlando
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
In addition to the Pokkén Tournament Early Access Competitions, look forward to participating in the Pokkén Tournament Championship Series, a worldwide event with big prizes on the line, including invitations and travel awards to the 2016 Pokémon World Championships this August in San Francisco, California! More information on the Pokkén Tournament Championship Series will be revealed soon.

The new stage, Diggersby Land, is based on a theme park.

A developer interview (made by GameXplain) with Katsuhiro Harada and Masaaki Hoshino from Bandai Namco is available on YouTube. The interview shows:
- how Pokken Tournament came to be, including how they decided on the final Pokémon roster
- the challenges in making Pokémon look realistic
- what it's like to work with the Pokémon Company
- how Shadow Mewtwo was created
- what Pokken characters the developers personally wanted to see that didn't make the cut

The Ferrum League (exclusive to the Wii U version): this league takes place in the Ferrum region. Due to the effects of mysterious stones called Synergy Stones, humans and Pokémon are connected in this world.
Pokémon battles are called Ferrum Battles. In these battles, it isn't the Pokémon's type match-ups or levels that are tested, but the strength of the Synergy between the player and their Pokémon.
Beating stages adds more support Pokémon and battle areas. This league has four ranks: Green League, Blue League, Red League and the Chrome League.

Two new sets of Support Pokémon have been revealed: Yveltal & Latios and Reshiram & Cresselia
