Have you ever wondered what happened to Gary/Blue's Raticate?

I think that everyone knows the story about Gary's Raticate... if no: when you encounter your rival in Lavender Town he asks whether or not you know what it's like to have one of your Pokémon die. Usually he used his Raticate but at this point he don't use it anymore so many rumour started about this.
What do you think happened??

Personally I don't know what to think, but I've heard the theory where you beat up his Raticate on the SS Anne and he couldn't reach the Pokemon Center on time...

I have read that theory and it's really interesting so maybe it's the right one

Well it can truly be the PC because his whole thing is how he's better than you always training the strongest Pokemon, and is always ahead of you when catching Pokemon.

Right! I thnk that Raticate is the only boxed Pokémon since the others are used in his journey
