Youngster Joey Challenge

[Pokemon Trainer]

I think that everyone knows Youngster Joey and his top percentage Rattata
but did you know that there is a Youngster Joey Challenge?

RULES
- you can only use Rattata for the entire game
- may catch any necessary Pokemon for HMs
- you can't evolve Rattata
- run ends once the entire game is complete (16 badges)

Like in my Diamond run, I'll add something to have a more interesting challenge:
- I can have only the PokéGear number of Joey this to know how many times he will call


For this run I'll play Pokémon Gold
At the first route I can get Rattata but until I go to Mr. Pokémon and return to Prof. Elm I can't catch anything

I named my character Gold, got Totodile as a starter (the poor thing is named "A" because I was button mashing )
Finally, I was ready to catch my Rattata and named it Joey

Here's the stats of Rattata

The battle agains Joey and his top percentage Rattata!!

Now I can see how many times he will call!

I defeated the sage at the Sprout Tower (I need to train Rattata to challenge the gym )

The first gym challenge!! Rattata now knows Hyper Fang a good stab move that with a power of 80 and has a 10% chance of causing the target to flinch )

I got the Togepi egg and trained at the Union Cave (rock types are really difficult to defeat....)

After that I returned to Elm with the hatched Togepi to get a really useful item for this run: the Everstone! (I'm safe from the B button when Rattata will evolve!!)

I reached Azalea and defeated team Rocket at the Slowpoke Well

Now it's time for the second gym battle!!

The battle against Scyther wasn't easy.... Rattata was poisoned by Kakuna, Scyther's Quick Attack always hit before me... I used a lot of Potions /Super Potions but at some point Rattata was left with from 14HP, Scyther used Quick Attack but Rattata survived with only 1HP...
but that was enought to defeat Scyther

Now that I think about it.... next is Whitney's Miltank!!

For this run I use only one Rattata
but if you want to have a team full of Rattata... why not?

I think I forgot something.... but what? Oh well.... my rival wants to battle! OK!
No wait.... Gastly? Ghost.... NOOOOO!!!
My poor Rattata only knows normal type moves!!
Well... this is not RBY where the trainer Pokémon have infinite moves so... I waited until Gastly started using Struggle (the first time I lost because I too didn't have PP XDDD)

One of the first thing I had to do was to go to the National Park to get the TM Dig Gen 2 didn't introduce abilities so Gastly & evolutions don't have levitate (this will make Morty/Jasmine's gym challenge a little easier but I'm scared for Chuck's one)

The gym challenge against Whitney.... was scary! She used attract so my poor Rattata lost... (and she didn't use that mych Rollout )

I really hate this Miltank
After a little training Rattata won!! (Thanks dig XDDD)

I finally left this city and went to Ecruteak Gym to get surf

Challenge the gym (thanks to dig it was really easy XD)

At the Pokémon Center I made a new friend XD Bill XD

And before leaving the city I challenged my rival XD

I don't know why but some images were lost I was sure that the screenshot was successful and... a lot of images aren't in the folder...
Well I arrived at Olivine City I forgot to go to the Lighthous XD I went to Cianwood to challenge Chuck XD but I lost... I returned to Olivine City to train and caught a Hoothoot (for the HM Fly)

I challenged Jasmine (I lost all the images of the fight ) after saving Ampharos...
Joey continued to use Dig while Steelix missed a lot with Iron Tail so I won the badge
When I returned to Cianwood Joey called for the first time! (but I lost the screenshot!! )
This time my Rattata was lv. 50 and the fight was a little easier (I continued to use dig XDDDD)

At Lake of Rage I caught the shiny Gyarados (I love catching that free shiny XDD)

-> again, where is the screenshot of the shiny Gyarados??
Lance asked me to join him against TR and I was happy to help him (and get some exp XD)

->Ok, but please wait until RS are relased XDDD

Finally the gym battle!! (I hate the puzzle in this gym!)
the gym was easy... I continued to use dig XDD so many enemy attacks failed

Next time: TR again XD

It's time to go to Blackthorn City (I hate the Ice Path!!!)

It's time to challenge Clair and get my 8th badge!!!

-> poor Clair... she lost against a Rattata

-> he told me that he has a Master Ball for me... but I don't want it! I only need my top percentage Rattata!!

-> you know how many times I have taken a step in Kanto???
Since I need a lot of HM I have a lot of Pokémon on my team but like always, I only use Rattata XD (he is already able to 1HKO everything XD)

-> I know Silver... I know... winning the Pokémon League won't be easy but... you have a full team and you are weaker than me!

-> I only have a Rattata

Now it's time for the League!

Well.. in reality it's not that easy... I already lost 3-4 times

The first E4 isn't that difficult... the real challenge starts with Koga and his Forretres... I lost against him once because Forretres knows a really powerful move.... Explosion! The only way to defeat it was to use dig and wait for him to explode....

Another difficult opponent is Bruno... a lot of his Pokémon (4 out of 5) are fighting type!! Hitmontop is difficult to defeat because it knows dig and protect... Rattata can easily 1HKO Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee (Onix with one dig go ko) but the real challenge is Machamp... he is really powerful because I can defeat him in 1 turn and it can 1HKO my Rattata....

But I won't give up!

How many times Joey called? Only once since I started the challenge... while Mom called a lot of times because she loves to buy me things she really loves shopping...

This was a really difficult League Challenge... I don't remember how many times I lost against Koga and Bruno... I started the challenge at lv. 62 and in the end Rattata was lv. 78!!!
(Karen and Lance were "easy" )

-> he don't have anything to say because he lost against a Rattata XDDD

Against Lance (Joey learned Shadow Ball, this will be a good move XD)

->No, it's not over, there's still Kanto XD

-> to lose against a Rattata? XD

-> again, it's not over XD there's still Kanto and Red!

-> I know, I beat the league with a single Rattata XDDD a top percentage Rattata XD

Finally the Hall of Fame!!!

->Rattata will defeat all Kanto trainers!!!

So, the adventure starts with this goofing sailor and the little girl that don't listen to her grandpa

Now we are ready to be an errand boy XDD
First of all we need to help get back the generator

I got the machine part. back really quickly but... I wanted to defeat this poor Rocket guy XD

After that it's time to get an Expansion card and wake up Snorlax, get back to Johto to get a bike (before that complete the Copy-cat girl quest and get her back her Clefairy doll and finally.... challenge the gym leaders!!!)

Next: Misty! (But before you have to find her)

-> well, I won the league XD

-> same for my Rattata!!

Before going to Blue I made a stop at Viridina to battle against an alternative version of my main character XD

Blue:

I admit that Blue was difficult to defeat because his Rhydon used Earthquake (Earthquake can hit a Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Dig, and if it does, it will have its power doubled for that Pokémon.)

So before the end of this run Joey challenged me!

Time to challenge Red and complete this challenge!

At first I wanted to go with all my HM users but after a little I remembered that the cave isn't that big so I left everyone in the pc.

-> it's finally time!

-> one single Rattata against the strongest trainer in GSC!

I have to admit that Red wasn't that great of a challenge... Koga and Bruno (and Blue) were really challenging... but I defeated Red the first time (maybe because my Rattata was in the top percentage? XDDD)

If not for the small quests (generator/Exp. card, Copy cat, etc) Kanto was really quick XD (and the league was terrbile!!! I think that Bruno or Koga are the real Champions here!! Lance is an impostor! )

I always ended up having some ice Pokemon to take care of the Dragonites so the fighting always killed me too but I can't imagine doing it with only a Rattata

I got lucky that I caught a Rattata with a high attack and speed (and, the high level helps too )
